To carry out the mission towards the vision mentioned above, HKBP New York City keep up to the principle below:

"To serve, not be served" (Mark 10: 45);

Being salt and light (Matthew 5: 13-14);

"Upholding justice, peace and the integrity of creation" (Mark 16: 15 and Luke 4: 18-19)

PRINCIPAL

CONFESSION OF FAITH

1.This Confession of Faith of the H. K. B. P. is the continuation of the confessions (creeds) already existing, namely, the three confessions of faith (creeds) which were already known to our Christian forefathers and are called:

1.1.The Apostles Creed

2.1. The Nicene Creed

3.1. The Athanasian Creed

2.This Confession of Faith is the summary of what we believe and hope in this life and the life to come.

3.This Confession of Faith is the basis of the H. K. B. P. preaching, in teaching, and in public life (Matt. 16: 16).

OUR MINISTRY

The common office of every Christian is the office of the servant.

Yet for administrating the work of the church, God through the church has called those minister according to the threefold office of Christ:

prophet, priest and king (1 Cor. 12: 28; 1Tim 6: 5; John 1: 49; 1 Ptr. 2: 9).

The ministries in the church are vary but there is only one Lord, who has the ministry (Eph. 4: 11; Acts 6: 1-7; 14; 23; 15: 2; 20: 28; Phil. 1: 1; 1 Tim. 3: 1; Titus 1: 7; 1 Tim. 3: 3; 4: 11; Matt. 23: 11; 1 Cor. 12: 5-7).

All ministries must diligently and not afraid to witness the truth of Jesus Christ before people and the government.

The ministry in the church is self-dedication. Therefore, the ministries must keep themselves away from being slave of money.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP

Pastors, Elders and Deacon are trained, qualified, and called servants who oversee the faithfulness of the local church in regard to her theology, mission, and the celebration of God's grace in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper. Pastors at HKBP New York City have gone through a rigorous process of ordination, and our Elders participate in local training and discipleship prior to being installed into leadership roles.

The HKBP New York City church elders and staff serve the church body by working alongside the congregation in the various ministries of the church.

Our elders provide spiritual leadership and teaching to equip the church, also serve those leading and working in our ministries. (Elders are called by the church based on qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1 and according to the concept and procedure of HKBP New York City.

HKBP New York City is first and foremost under the leadership of Jesus.

Having forgiven us through His death on the cross and marked us as His at our baptisms, Jesus is the Chief Overseer of this and every other church. He's the true "Senior Pastor." Jesus then calls qualified men and women to serve on his behalf in the life of His churches.
